Source: Statistics Canada
Release: Electric Power Statistics
Units: Megawatt-hours, Generation from non-renewable combustible fuels, all producer classes
Frequency: Monthly
Notes: Electricity generated from non-renewable combustible fuels (Statistics Canada's grouping of natural gas, coal and oil fired generation) in megawatt-hours per month. It is the fossil share of Canadian electricity: watch it fall as Alberta's coal phase-out and carbon pricing work through the system, with natural gas partly offsetting coal's decline. Consistent series from 2020. Published monthly, about three months behind the reference month.
